Naked Eggs!

We conducted a little experiment last weekend.  According to Kyle, I'm ruining Colby's school experience.

Does this face look worth it or what?  He gets so excited about our experiments!

 Maci is starting to get in on things, too.

We soaked the eggs in vinegar to remove the shells.

 A hidden lesson here: a watched pot never boils.

Colby wanted to take a picture of mommy once they were ready.

 Next step: play!  We added food coloring to water and soaked two in that.  Then the one in the middle went into Karo syrup.  Hmmmm, what do you think will happen?

The one in syrup got dehydrated like a raisin.  Ew.  The other two grew bigger and a lot more colorful looking.  Osmosis at work ;)  Colby doesn't quite get that part of it yet.

 

Ruined or not, these kids are happy.
