To say that Kyle's been working overtime lately is a bit of an understatement. I think double or triple overtime is more like it. He's not complaining a bit and we fully expected this to happen when we started our new dairy. So when he got a day off from the main dairy, and we had a little bit of free time, we headed straight to the lake. And perfect timing - it was Father's Day. The father of our home deserves a little R&R, that's for sure!
We were able to get a slip at the marina this year which is pretty nice because it saves so much time and energy hauling the boat back and forth up the mountain - which makes it possible for us to take only a few hours to go and enjoy in between milkings.
Maci is our little water baby. We set her on the sand to play with Colby and three times in a row, she promptly stood up and ran diving head first into the water. I guess it doesn't scare her at all! It sure did scare Mommy though to see that little body diving into the cold lake water. We quickly discovered she needed exclusive one on one supervision!
Colby did not want to get in the water at all. The boat really didn't excite him very much either, he just wanted to dig in the sand - I was not surprised at all.
I tried to get a little sun on my bright white skin - didn't work.
After going for a swim with Mommy, we put Maci high up on the shore to watch the action from afar so we didn't have anymore face-first incidents! I love her little bumblebee swimsuit - thanks Nana!
She loved digging in the dirt, too!
Then we went back onto the boat to eat some lunch and get some shade. Maci wanted to put shades on :)
And Colby gave us a rousing rendition of "Down By The Bay." We've been singing this a lot lately.
Maci cannot get enough to eat these days!
"Is it time to fish, yet?"
So we let Colby fish for a little while. It was after 12 by this time, so the fish were not biting, but he was still excited!
The rocking of the boat put Maci right to sleep.
And before long Colby was out, too.
It was definitely nice, relaxing and stress-free. Just what we wanted for Kyle on Father's Day. The lake was surprisingly not busy at all. Hopefully we can get a few more days like this over the summer.
Happy Father's Day to one hard working Daddy!
