Lately Colby has been going through a probably very typical 2 year old phase of "I don't want to!" I ask him to do something and he either completely ignores me or goes onto something else and says "I don't want to!" My solution to this problem: favors.
Magically, if I start out my request with, "Colby, can you do Mommy a favor?" he decides that it's something grown-up or fun that he "gets" to do. This method has been quite effective.
Today, Colby said, "Mommy, can you do me a favor?"
"Sure," I replied.
"Can you do all the dishes?"
My plan has backfired.
