Colby decided he wanted to try out soccer this year. His friends have been playing a few years now so he decided to see what it was all about. They play almost every day at recess. They started practice in September and the coach quickly saw that Colby likes to dive for the ball, so he started playing goalie. Turns out he wasn't half bad! Started every game during the season as goalie!
Occasionally they would put him at half-back or forward just to give him some experience in the field. One game (when Grace, Jack & Finnley came to watch), he scored 4 goals!
Quite the fan club!
Our athletic little guy had a blast playing. We had fun watching! He was quite good at kicking the ball FAR when he got it and stopped a lot of goals.
After the season was over, they invited him to play in an all-star league during the spring. He decided that he'd rather play baseball, since that is still his favorite sport. I'm sure he'll be back for more next season.
First year of soccer = success!
