T-Ball Star

Videos have been added!!

Colby has always been excited about baseball for some reason, so he was so super excited that he was finally old enough to play t-ball this year.
It turned out to be a great experience for him.  He made a lot of new buddies on his team.
And felt pretty special in his uniform!
He was a pretty good little player (for t-ball).

He only had to hit off of the tee once all season.

Running the bases was a little tough for him!  For the first 3 or 4 games, he would either run right to the pitcher's mound or try to run to 3rd base instead of 1st.  That took a little practice!  He also loved to drag his feet along the chalk line to see it move around instead of running.  Or he liked to look for us in the crowd as he ran to make sure we were watching.
Out in the field, he did pretty well going for the ball and throwing it to 1st base.  In general, when the ball was hit, all of the kids would dive for it however they could and it was a bit of a dogpile, then the winner would throw it to 1st base.  Colby came out with the ball a lot ;)
And sometimes he got to play 1st base.  He was a very social 1st baseman.

All good things must come to an end, though.  After about 8 weeks-ish it was time for one last hit...
T-ball doesn't follow normal baseball rules.  If it did, we would be there for hours and hours.  They play 2 innings, everyone gets a turn to bat each inning and there are no outs.  They don't keep score, it's just a chance for the kids to learn how to bat and run and field the ball.
High fives at the end of the game!
And a hot dog for our ball player!
After the season was over, the whole baseball league sat on a float in the Riverdale Parade.  Colby's coach's wife and I made them a poster to hold.  Cute boys (and one girl)!
He took a pretty cute picture...
And guess what? He got a trophy!  His absolute most prized possession now.
We're proud of our little slugger (can you tell?) and he had so much fun playing t-ball.  He's sad that it's over and is already looking forward to next year!
