 Colby was eager to break into the Smithsonian science set he got from Uncle Cody and Auntie Christa for his birthday.  First up - digging for gems!

He chiseled away at the block of sand to find rocks and gemstones.  He was very focused.

 "It broke in half!"

 I love his love for learning.

Next we will clean them up talk about their hardness, cleavage/fracture, color, streak and luster and try to identify what kind of rocks they are.
