Simple Things

Colby is in a phase where he wants to be constantly entertained.  Doing an activity, an art project, riding his bike, etc.  He used to be very good at independent play, but is wanting more company these days.  It's pretty tough on him when Mommy has to do dishes and fold laundry, etc. instead of playing with him (which is a lot of the time).  I have found, though, that simple, not-so-messy things are great for keeping him entertained and happy while I'm nearby, but can't play with him.  

Put some dish soap and water in a mason jar, add color and blow bubbles with a straw.  Not joking - 45 minutes of pure entertainment.
