Fish Lake Family Reunion

July 18-22, 2014

We're HERE!!!

 Ah, time to get some serious R&R.

 My mom made little treats for each family to welcome them to reunion.  Milk bottles filled with candy!  Maci helped us deliver them.

 Thank heavens this is the only snake I saw the whole time!  Last year the boys spent the entire time finding snakes.  They probably found a lot more than this, but didn't feel the need to show us every time.  Thanks, boys.

 Everywhere a fish fish!!!  We caught 12 our first day out - not too shabby!

Jared Lyman had a birthday so Monique threw an awesome super hero party.

 and a hammer throw - which super hero is this again?  I'm no good at remembering these things.

 Next, an activity for the adults - AMAZING RACE time!

 Colby and Josh were happy on-lookers.

 Let me just say that 8,000 feet elevation is no joke.  I had to do a few of the challenges, which involved running down to the lodge and back - it definitely kicked my butt and gave me chest pains!  But hey, it takes pain to win!  Thankfully Brad did most of the running ;)

One of the first years we ever came to Fish Lake for reunion, all of the cousins laid down on the ground in the shape of a fish.  We didn't have everyone here, but we tried to re-create.  I can't find the original picture - but when I do, we'll have to compare!  I'm sure the original is better.

Priceless.

 Colby was quite upset when we were on our way and realized Jack and Asher were not coming.  But once we got there he had no trouble at all finding friends.  There are plenty of boys to have fun and make mischief with!  To be honest, I didn't see much of him throughout the days...

 And it took Maci quite a while, but she finally warmed up to the girls - adorable!

 so the first cousins could have some fun playing the Candy Bar game!  Conway wanted in on the fun, too!

Ah, another morning of fishing!  Uncle Mike joined us this time. 

 Beautiful!

 We upped our catch to 17 today - kids were happy!

 This is where Colby spent most of his time.

 And walked through the cold creek more than once.

 And we spent some time in this area - the only spot with good cell service to call Kyle and check on things at home.

 Sunday night we had dinner in the outdoor pavilion and wore our matching shirts. 

Then we had a variety show!

There was everything from climbing...

 to singing...

 to fort building...

 acrobats...

 more singing...

 even ninja fighting!

  My favorites were re-creations of the classics.

Julie sang "Ollie" - a family favorite.

Todd led us all in singing "Mairzy Doats"

and Lisa told Grandpa's old story - "Falling Rocks"

Great show!

 Then we went looking for deer.  We didn't see a whole lot and my kids had re-set my camera somehow without me noticing, so my pictures came out really dark.

 Monday rolled around and we waited patiently for Kyle to arrive.  He was supposed to fly into Salt Lake and be to Fish Lake before noon, but his flight got delayed 6.5 HOURS!!!  So not cool.

 The kids went on a scavenger hunt adventure down by the lake.

 Then got yummy lake jello treats!

 We adopted Maizey for the day and the girls played and played and played.  Best buddies.

 Maizey is only 6 weeks older than Maci - so they make a pretty good pair!

 Colby and Jared kept each other company.

Maci is quite into "doing hair" lately...  Morgan joined in on the fun, too!

The next morning we took Kyle fishing to show him how it's done!  The kids were a little tired of waking up at 5:00am every morning...

 I hate to say it, but Kyle must be a bit of a bad luck charm - we only caught 6 fish that day - subpar!  He was still excited about it, though!

Kyle was there less than 24 hours and it was already time to leave.  It will be good to get back into a normal routine at home, but it is so hard to leave this place.  Until next year, Fish Lake!

 Before we got to the airport in Salt Lake, we took the kids to Temple Square - they were impressed with how beautiful it was.

We flew home without a hitch.  Kids did great, flights were on time.  Back to home sweet home.
