Sea World!

Whirlwind of a day!

 

3:00am - Kyle gets up to go to work - cows gotta eat whether it's vacation day or not.

4:15am - Callie wakes up to get ready to go!

5:15am - Kids up

5:40am - Leave the house - LATE!

6:10am - Arrive at airport.  Colby has a little meltdown as we go through security because his Mickey had to go through the x-ray machine.

6:50 - Take off!  Maci's first flight and she was excited!

 Colby flew when he was about 8 months old, but this is his first flight that he can appreciate.  Both kids did great on the plane.  The flight was only a little over an hour.  Not too shabby!

 8:10am - Hello San Diego!

9:00am - Found a breakfast spot and chowed down.

10:00am - Get to Sea World right as it opens.

First thing we saw was this giant sting ray up close!  Kids were wound up and ready to go.  Wow!

 11:00am - They have rides here?!?

Enough with the spinning lets see some more marine life.

 12:00pm - Drink break.  Phew - the sun can be hot when the breeze isn't blowing.

 Heading into the shark encounter...

 Sharks come in all shapes and sizes, you know.

 Ah!!!!!

 12:30 - We made it out alive.  Let's watch a show.

 Daddy enjoyed sitting down for a bit.

 Some type of whale that I do not remember the name of...

 Blue Horizons!

 1:30pm - Another show - Pet's rule!  Colby insisted that we not miss this show.  He loved all the dogs, cats, pigs and birds.  Maci was getting very sleepy.

 2:30pm - Yep, another show.  Maci did not see one minute of it.  An hour nap on Daddy was in order.

 Colby was getting tired, but stuck it out.

 To see the star of SeaWorld - SHAMU!!!

3:00pm - Lunch break.

3:30pm - After so many shows, we needed some excitement.  The kids went to the bat ray feeding and got to get their hands on some of these slimy creatures. 

Skyride over the bay.  Very nice!

 Say "Sea!"

 We headed to the tide pools where the kids got to touch some sea stars.  Maci got one touch and then freaked out and did NOT want to touch them again.

 Colby LOVED it.  His favorite part of the day.

 And, right back to the tide pool - the boy couldn't get enough!

 4:30pm - We watched a family do the whole swim with the dolphin encounter.  That was cool and is definitely something I would love to do if we ever go when the kids are older.

 We got to see 3 month old baby Shamu up close.  Swimming right alongside his/her? Mommy.

 Pretty cute and pretty cool.

5:00pm - One last show.  Cirque de la Mer!

5:30pm - We caught the last dolphin interaction of the day and got a front row seat to see them with their trainers.

 Maci wanted to dive into the pool with them!

 We even got a little wet from all the splashing ;)

 Happy girl!

6:15pm - Goodbye SeaWorld!

Dinner, re-group, return rental car, then back to the airport.

8:30pm - Colby fell asleep just before we got on the plane and didn't wake up until the next morning!  He missed the whole plane ride home.  We wore him out I think!

Maci, however, lasted until we were almost home.  Look at those dark circles!

It was a very LONG day, but we had a lot of fun!!!

 

So grateful that we got to get away for at least one day and grateful to Kyle's parents for feeding our calves so we could do it.
